18A – Create a Customer Avatar

Create a Customer Avatar

Prototypical Customer:

My prototypical customer is a 40 year old man with a desire, and a job that requires a clean shaven look (lawyer, politician etc.). This customer is a middle high income male, drives a nice car either silver or black (Mercedes, Audi, Tesla, Jaguar) and enjoys playing golf outside of work with his friends. He is married with two children - one boy, one girl and has a pet golden retriever. They live just outside a city in an upper class suburban neighborhood, but he has to travel a lot for work. He enjoys watching the news and other shows that are informative or just watches sports. To relax he listens to classics or big band music like Sinatra and enjoys a glass of whisky or a homemade martini.

Similarities:

Realistically I currently don’t have most of these things in common with my prototypical customer, although some of these aspects do sound appealing. For my product, it is not meant to be targeted to this one specific type of customer because the majority of people choose to shave at least some part of their body. I don’t think what car they drive, how many kids they have or what they do for fun will make too big of an impact on whether or not they buy my product, but maybe that is just me not thinking like a true entrepreneur. However, I do think the age, job, income, gender and location may play a bigger role than anything else. The specific things I currently have in common is that I am a man, I enjoy golf and watching sports and that I do like Sinatra but it isn’t really my go to music.

  1. Hi Marcus, great description of your customer avatar! I thought your customer’s personality and interests were very detailed, which indicates in what direction you want your product to take. I see that you want your product to appeal to many different types of people, but I also think it would be interesting to focus on this type of customer and see how that would affect what you can charge/quality of your product.

  2. Great post Marcus! I love that you went into so much detail about your customer, even down to the color and make of the car they drive. Based on the assignment, this specificity of who you think your customers are is great for your business plan and will help cater your product to those customers to the best of your ability.
