Halfway Reflection
1.To keep up with this course, my best strategy has been doing the assignments at the very beginning of the week. The assignments are mostly easy but they are definitely tedious and can be time consuming depending on the requirements, so I prefer doing them on a Monday or Tuesday just so they aren’t hanging over my head the rest of the week.
2.I have never really wanted to “give up” per se, but I have had times where I was frustrated with the class. The first was when for one of the earlier assignments I forgot to declare the comments I made for the post, which is a process I never had to do before and I was not accustomed to doing so. Even though I did the work, because I didn’t declare I lost points and that is frustrating. The second thing that has tested my compliance has been the assignments that require interviews. I do not enjoy these assignments because they can be a lot of work and I don’t like conducting the interviews in general for a small class assignment. I understand it’s purpose, but I would be more intrigued/motivated to do the interviews if I was actually looking to start my own business right now. I may be getting good feedback on my product, but I am not currently building it or marketing it. In fact, I haven't even really thought about it much outside of this class. While the idea is something I may want to look more into someday and if I get the opportunity I may go for it, but the information I am gathering right now will become outdated by then.
3.To foster the skills that support tenacity and develop a tenacious mindset here are my three tips:
1. Do the assignments ahead of time or at the beginning of the week
2. Always double check that you have submitted your assignment and declared it by the due date
3. If you are frustrated with the class, just remember why you are taking it and use it as your motivation. If you have a passion for entrepreneurship, then think about how you can use this class to your advantage. If you are just looking for credits or to meet requirements, then just think that all you need to do is pass the class (striving for whatever grade you prefer because it is dependent on your preference mostly) and it will be done with.

Great write up Marcus! I think completing the assignments at the beginning of the week is a good strategy. I usually wait to the end of the week and always have to cram them in Thursday night or Friday morning. I also agree that learning the “flow” of the class with the blog posts and declarations can be confusing and it is easy to miss points on the beginning assignments.
ReplyDeleteHi Marcus, great post! I definitely relate to you when it comes to declaring assignments. I was so frustrated when I lost points because I forgot to declare, even though I did all the work. I think it is very important to keep a checklist for this class, which will allow you to not forget those declarations. On Thursdays, I always ask myself, “1A, 1B, 1C, Cupcake 1 done?”
ReplyDeleteHey Marcus,
ReplyDeleteI found your post to be really interesting. I definitely agree with doing assignments ahead of time as I personally have failed multiple assignments due to poor time management. I also enjoyed the part where you mentioned motivation when frustrated with a particular class. I actually found it to be pretty useful. I also agree with checking the submission status of an assignment as I've had assignments not submit accidentally and I end up missing them.
