Entrepreneurship Story

In my family, there are a few different relatives that have started their own businesses, but I rarely talk to them about their business or just in general. My main experience with an entrepreneur, was when I was interning with a start-up company called Fantasy Life. At Fantasy Life I was able to work directly with the CEO and entrepreneur of the company, and worked on various marketing tasks. While I was interning to gain marketing experience, along the way, I would pick up things about how he would operate on a day to day basis and run the company. A lot of it included an extremely busy schedule that required him to see over all the daily operations, as well as all the B-B activities such as meeting with investors and business partners.

I enrolled in the class mainly because it was one of the electives required for my major, but I also would like to gain a basic overview of what makes a good entrepreneur and how to maximize my success rate if I ever decide to branch out myself.

  1. Marcus,

That internship experience definitely sounds like a great opportunity to learn more about entrepreneurship in general, especially when working with a start-up. The best way to gain that knowledge is by shadowing an entrepreneur, and considering you did that, that will work to your advantage. I am also taking this class for the reason you provided, in which I want to gain an overview of what it takes to become a successful entrepreneur in the case the opportunity arises.

  2. Hi Marcus, great post! I found myself relating a lot to your experience in the start-up world. I had a recent internship that was similar to start-up culture, as I worked one on one with the founder of the company every day. I learned so much because I was doing different things every single day. I also saw how the founder of a company has to wear multiple hats and be able to balance all the tasks within their business.
