Bug List
1.Overbooked flights: This bugs exists because airlines are able to take advantage of their customers who reserve tickets in advance, hoping someone will be willing to give up their seat for a voucher. If someone doesn't they have to remove someone anyway.
2.My apartment’s location: This bug exists because my apartment only really has one bus route and it doesn't make any stops too close to Archer Rd, Butler Plaza or even just a place with a grocery store in general.
3.Alarms to wake up: This bug exists because waking up to an alarm/sound ruins the whatever noise/song it's set to.
4.Cooking in my apartment: This bug exists because even when the oven fan is on, no matter what I am cooking, even if I am just boiling water, the smoke detector goes off because it is too sensitive.
5.Dress shirts/clothing becoming un-tucked: This bug exists because sometimes it can be really difficult to keep dress shirts tucked in all day or when moving around. Most “shirt stay” products seem to be ineffective and unless the shirt is perfectly tailored/sized it comes undone.
6.Ironing clothes: This bug exists because most clothing wrinkles very easily and it becomes a hassle when even everyday clothes like t-shirts and pants have wrinkles in them.
7.Having to remove electronic devices/shoes etc. at airport security: This bug exists because of the safety issues while flying and the bad effectiveness of screening such products when they aren’t removed.
8.Folding Laundry: This bug exists because people generally want to keep clothes nice and conserve storage space, but it sometimes feels like a waste of time and is tedious.
9.The time it takes to cool/freeze: This bugs exists because there is nothing that can cool things as quickly as a microwave heats things up. If something is required to be chilled it requires time.
10.Shopping at malls: This bug exists because of how many stores are in the mall and not knowing where they are .Although there are usually maps in the mall, it requires time to go look for the map/signs and decipher it. Furthermore, some malls/stores are huge and the maps aren’t a great help.
11.Having to buy new razors/replace the blades: This bug exists because razors often get dull and dirty really quickly.
12.How expensive textbooks are: This bug exists because of the constant publishing of new textbooks and the requirements by schools for their students to purchase them.
13.Parking on campus: This bug exists because for the amount of students and faculty at UF, there is not nearly enough parking. Furthermore, because there is so little parking, you have to pay a lot for a decal.
14.Not being able to understand foreign languages: This bug exists because of how difficult it is to learn different languages past the adolescent years and the time it takes to learn these new languages.
15.Touch sensors on phones: This bug exists because if you have gloves on, or something is obstructing your bare skin, the phone won’t recognize your touch
16.Traffic on game days: This bug exists because of the large influx of people that come to Gator games and the city can barely handle that large of a number of people traveling.
17.Studying: This bug exists because of the large amount of material that is covered over multiple classes in a college curriculum and without doing it could hurt a students grade. It is time consuming and it often requires a good organization of class materials.
18.Making the bed: This bug exists because after every night of sleep, the sheets on a bed get messed up. It requires time and labor to make it for the night, just so it can be messed up again the next morning.
19.Different chargers: This bug exists because major cellphone and computer companies decide to have different, unique chargers and it can be a hassle to find someone with the same type for your device.
20.Losing golf balls while golfing: This bug exists because a lot of people hit a lot of bad shots in golf, can’t see their shot and/or lose track of their ball. Golf balls are tiny while most golf courses are very large with a lot of obstructions.
Challenges to making this list: This list was challenging to create because of a couple different reasons. The first being, a lot of the things that bug me have to do with larger societal/political/personal issues that can’t really be dealt with and are specific to me. For example, I really dislike “reality” TV shows because they are the exact opposite of reality and send bad/unrealistic messages to their audience members that take the shows seriously. This bug exists because some people like reality TV and they can make a lot of money. While this is a bug, it doesn't seem to fit the purpose of the assignment and so I left all similar bugs out. The second reason this was challenging was due to the fact that I don’t often analyze why the things that bug me exist and having to do this for 20 different bugs took a lot of time.
Great list Marcus! I definitely can relate on some of the bugs you find like the cost of textbooks and the traffic in Gainesville on game days. I appreciate that you didn’t include those larger societal problems in the list, like politics or reality shows, because many of those can’t be solved through entrepreneurial ventures. It bugs me that so many others put those in their lists!
ReplyDeleteHi Marcus!
ReplyDeleteI could relate to so many of the bugs on your list. While most of these were simple everyday bugs , I did not think of many of these myself. It took me awhile to come up with a why reason for some if my bug as well because I never really took the time to think about it.
What’s up Marcus!
ReplyDeleteAfter reading your first reason for finding this list challenging, I could not agree more. A lot of the bugs I have mainly consist of personal bugs that I really can’t do anything about, for example, hearing people chew on their food. Because of this, it made it more difficult to come up with 20 bugs that annoy me throughout my daily routines and finding reasons as to why they exist in the first place.
Hey Marcus! The first item on your bug list is one I can relate to the most. Overbooked flights are very annoying. I recently flew from San Fransisco to Orlando and the flight was overbooked my two friends and I willingly gave up are seats for airline credit of $2,000! But, once we got to the front to claim our prize for being so noble there were magically enough seats. Not only are overbooked flights annoying try when you get offered a whopping airfare credit and then have it exist in the blink of an eye.
